Written by AdvicePay | Jan 29, 2020 11:00:00 AM

The AdvicePay company culture is fueled by our team members. We pride ourselves in having a fun, innovative, and engaging team that loves showing up every day to get the "job" done.

For this month's team member spotlight, we talked to Aaron Lindstrom, Lead Developer. Aaron went to the University of Wyoming, studying Computer Science with a double major in Management Information Systems. He spends his days squashing bugs, cranking through code, and leading our Development team (also known as the three little birds). Read on to see what he had to say.

Get to Know Aaron, Lead Developer

Q: How did you hear about AdvicePay? What made you want to work here?

Aaron: Arlene Moss (Executive Business Coach at XY Planning Network) was at my house, talking about how awesome her company was and I jokingly said to her "Are you hiring any developers?" Coincidentally, she told me about an opportunity at AdvicePay. The more I read and heard about AdvicePay, the more excited I got. After the first couple of interviews, I felt like it was a great fit and I'm still super stoked that I get to come to work here every day!

Q: What does a day in the life look like for you at AP?

Aaron:I like to sit down before I do anything during the day and make a list of things I'd like to accomplish. I'll look at my calendar, our current sprint board, and any pressing bugs or issues, and prioritize. I generally review pull requests after lunch or at the end of the day. I like to have meetings in the morning (when possible) so I get a fairly uninterrupted block of time in the afternoon to crank through code and architecture decisions.

Q: What three words would you use to describe AdvicePay?

Aaron: Brilliant. Open. Honest.

Q: Do you have a go-to sound or song that you listen to when you need to just start working?

Aaron: "Halcyon and On and On" by Orbital

Q: What are seven words (or less) of advice for others in your profession?

Aaron: Don't be held back by imposter syndrome.

Q: What is the first thing you do when you get off work?

Aaron: I go hang out with my wife and play with my kiddos.
