The AdvicePay company culture is fueled by our team members. We pride ourselves in having a fun, innovative, and engaging team that loves showing up every day to get the "job" done.
For this month's team member spotlight, we talked to Cassie Jackson, Business Development Manager. Cassie helps prospective AdvicePay users understand how they can get the most out of the platform in their firm. Before joining our team, Cassie worked for a financial and HR services business, putting her Business Finance degree from Montana State University (go Cats!) to work — so helping people is in her blood. Read on to see what she had to say.

Q: How did you hear about AdvicePay? What made you want to work here?
Cassie: Mary Moore posted the job in a private Facebook group (the same one Erika mentions in her spotlight!) that we were both a part of. I had met Mary through Bozeman Business and Professional Women. I was serving as the co-chair of membership and took each new member to coffee. When I met with Mary, I was really interested in what she had to say about AdvicePay. I was trying to wrap my head around the type of business model that would require advisors to collect credit card and ACH payments! Right after our meeting, I went back to my office and spent a little more time researching AdvicePay and the fee-for-service business model. I had worked in the financial services industry for several years, mainly partnering with companies to roll out their group insurance and retirement benefits. The information on fee-for-service really expanded on the role I had played in the industry up to this point in my career. I was very intrigued.
When I saw the job posting, I had an overwhelming urge to apply. I wasn’t looking for new employment at the time, but it just felt right. I started researching AdvicePay and the current team members. I found an article announcing the recent Code of Conduct that Alan and Michael introduced at XYPN’s annual conference. I considered leaving the industry on multiple occasions due to being disrespected, belittled and harassed. This was the first time I had seen anyone speak so openly about the issue and the need for change. I knew at that moment that these were people I wanted to work with and applied that day.
Q: What is a normal day for you like at AdvicePay?
Cassie: I review my calendar each morning before I take my daughter to daycare to get a feel for how the day will go. I get to the office around 8:30am and try to find a quiet place to get started. I always spend a few minutes prioritizing my goals for the day. Next, it’s pretty typical that I will jump on a call with a prospective firm - demoing AdvicePay, answering questions, and talking all things fee-for-service. Once I’m finished with meetings, I start working on other tasks for the day. Depending on the day, this can include:
- Discussing feature requests with members of our team
- 1:1 and group meetings with team members
- Finalizing agreements for new Enteprise Plus users
- Hosting webinars
- Creating processes and tracking goals for our sales team
Each day is different and I absolutely love that!
Q: How does working at AdvicePay challenge you and encourage you to do your best work?
Cassie: I have to have meticulous documentation and communication with my team members as I work through the sales process. I work with several different departments to make sure that every commitment we make to our users is met. Seeing everything come together for a new user is one of the best parts of my job.
Q: What inspires you?
Cassie: Being around passionate people. I get to talk to firms each week that are so passionate about providing great technology options for their advisors and the clients that they serve. I’m also surrounded by passionate people on the AdvicePay team. I feed off of their passion and enthusiasm every day. We have the option to work remotely but you will always find me at the office.
Q: What 3 words would you use to describe AdvicePay??
Cassie: Innovative. Transparent. Collaborative.
Q: Where are you going on your next vacation?
Cassie: San Diego. I’m traveling with my best friend to spend a few days in the sunshine.
